And unless you insist on solid silver, this flute, which in my opinion plays and sounds as good, is actually good value in comparison with, say, the Altus 1007. But if an Altus is what you want, then you will save up and afford it. None, although Altus's reluctance to give dealer discounts means that the instrument is apparently more expensive than equivalent flutes, which will put some purchasers off. Any intonation problems with this flute, and you have only yourself to blame! The silver plating is very good quality indeed, and like all Altus flutes, this benefits from the excellent William Bennett scale. It's also an extremely handsome instrument and superbly crafted. The low register is rich and full, and the flute opens up beautifully as it approaches the higher and highest notes.
